About this deal

The rest of the on-disc content, such as the many hours of bonus features, are included in the standard edition as well. When you compare the Perfect Collection and the Platinum Edition you will also notice that "Fly Me to the Moon" is playing more clear in the Perfect Collection, while it's more quiet when played in the Platinum Edition (I refer to Episode 2). You’re all tripping balls if you think any country aside from Japan influences decisions made in 90+% anime (or more importantly, manga and light novels as that’s what most anime adapt from as opposed to being original) and even that’s probably a conservative estimate.

Although Anno seem to had shrugged it off, it was later revealed that he had a complete breakdown, because for two and a half years, he had been working endlessly, risked everything, put his full heart into NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, only to have left the fans and TV critics extremely disappointed. The initial plot is a fairly simple science fiction story set in a post-apocalyptic world where teenagers pilot giant robots known as “Evangelion” into battle with “Angels,” who are some kind of extra-terrestrial beings hellbent on destroying humanity. The Standard Edition is an essential five-disc set that will contain over five hours of bonus features, including animatics, TV commercials, music videos, and more. Much of this was down to how Hideaki Anno merged elements of Ultraman with Space Runaway Ideon, but outside of Japan these references went over the heads of many. Maybe it’s just me, but I love stuff like commentary tracks playing while I’m watching a movie or an anime.

Due to various circumstances, only the first 1000 units of the Ultimate Edition were shipped out before the Christmas holidays while the rest will be available in January 2022.

Since then, this post-apocalyptic story of a young boy’s traumatic battle against the Angels that threaten to bring about the second end of the world has been viewed by millions of fans the world over, and has no doubt acted as the gateway anime for many fans the world over. He doesn’t know how to express his feelings, and has to deal with social awkwardness as well as his burgeoning adolescent sexual awkwardness. However, there was a lot more going on with the Evas than first appeared, not to mention the Angels themselves. Fly Me to the Moon (Yoko Takahashi Acid Bossa Version)" is also used within the series but has a EU/US CD release. The Rebuild films aren’t included, but they’re a sorta reboot so makes sense they’re sold separately.

The story gets completely lost in his self-explanatory symbolism, drawing from Christianity, Kabbalah and Shinto alongside other religious beliefs. But I know what my ears tell me, and my ears tell me this sounds SO much richer and fuller than the original DVD audio. It’s probably one of the most well known shows around, and I’m not even going to get into doing a deep dive on the series…at least not yet anyway.
